Wind Farm Investment Trusts (WEITS)

Through our sales efforts Aeronautica Windpower, Inc. comes across many opportunities to create small 'wind farms' on properties across North America. These farms are typically 2 to 5 Megawatts in size, and consist of 5 to 10 of our wind turbines, creating a 'mini-utility'. Power from these farms is typically sold to the 'grid', or to other local users. The landowner is paid an annual or monthly lease payment for his property (or may participate as an investor). These mini-utilities are owned by groups of investors who form a 'Wind Energy Investment Trust' (WEIT). A WEIT is very similar to a Real Estate Investment Trust, or REIT, which is a legal vehicle used to develop an income property, such as an apartment complex.
